Preliminary Characterization of Coverage for Water-to-Air Visible Light Communication Through Wavy Water Surface

In this paper, we establish a water-to-air (W2A) visible light communication (VLC) link using green emitting diode (LED), and investigate the coverage characteristics of designed W2A-VLC under calm wavy water conditions. By transmitting high-frequency sinusoid signal, extract variation gain. Based on received signals an experimental system, obtain real gains at different receiver points analyze channel temporal properties in good conditions (called “on” state). It is seen that mean gain surface condition can be larger than condition, especially when transmitter are not perfectly aligned, due to random spatial modulation effect surface. Moreover, state duration interval well fitted by shifted exponential distribution lognormal distribution, respectively. Bit error rate (BER) results reveal expanded condition. This work provides significant guidance for future works protocol design related performance analysis.
